Inspiration Really Is Everywhere

I have always thought myself creative minded- but the girls at work do a wonderful job of creating a fabulous window display from almost anything they can find. (See an example below of the gorgeous Oxford boutique window, www.elliesanderson.com)

When it comes to inspiration for myself I often need something to get the fire started; and it most often happens in the most unexpected of places. Mr D and I are in the process of purchasing our first home together and although the current vendor is an interior designer we do want to put our stamp on an otherwise monochrome and modern home.
My inspiration for the living room colours didn't come from a Lifestyle magazine, or even a fellow blog.. but a wedding cake. Find out more about this cake here!

The Living Room still oozes the faintest signs of a bachelor pad with its linear, black and white theme, with highly technical fixtures, fittings, and gadgets. Mr D and I love everything clean and modern, but as the centre of the home we think it is so important for the room to feel warm, welcoming, fresh, and vibrant. We will be introducing colours such as teal, daffodil yellow, and a soft apple green to compliment the blacks, whites, and greys already present in the room.
Linear shapes will be softened with floral prints and complementing textures; the masculine and feminine will balance each other out to present a modern, functionable, but warm and welcoming home.

Mr D found a beautiful large canvas with hand painted tulips on for the master bedroom which already has transformed the way we view the room.

What will inspire you next?
